Your Pet, Our Passion®: Our Asshole Layers Tabberone proudly presents Purina Dog Chow, of Nestlé Purina PetCare, as the first example of a new category of "Trademark Abuse". In addition, Purina graces the "Cease & Desist" pages as an example of pathtic over-reaching by corporate lawyers, whom we call bottom-feeders.Purina "claims" it owns the rights to the word "CHOW". So, what does this jerk-wad company do? The send threatening letters to a dog food store in Baltimore that was using the name "Chow, Baby". This was reported by the Baltimore Sun with follow-ups on the Legal Blog Watch and on Overlawyered.com. We personally think that Nestlé Purina PetCare should spend more time monitoring the source of their feeds so they don't end up killing more pets like they appeared to do in 2007 when they "voluntarily" recalled Mighty Dog and ALPO products. Of course, Nestlé Purina PetCare, like the others, blamed Menu Foods, but really folks, when you pay someone to put your name on their product isn't it your responsibility to monitor those products? Hmmmm?
