hey, just to keep you informed, wal-mart AND k-mart both support sweatshops. Yes, sweatshops are a problem in the us. 45000 out of 50000 clothing factories are sweatshops - in LA alone. How good is that stat?? 90%??? Ans really, some ppl are forced from their educations to work in these sweat shops all the time. IT HAPPENS. Personally, I check all my clothing before I buy it. If it is made in a sweat shop, I will not buy it. It has little bearing on the country it is made in (it has some though). Basically, my point is that sweatshops cause many ppl to work in positions were they are forced to sit and work for hours (up to 60 a week) and make less than $40 for those hours. *all together* BJ&B, a company known for their selling of baseball hats in universities, is a big problem. workers are forced overtime, or they have their paychecks held 'ransom'. they are physically, sexually, and meotionally abused. And thye get paid only 8 cents per hat they make, which are typically sold froo $19.95.
This is an example of what happens, and perhaps it will clarify a few things, and make you a little more caustious.
