Ab Rocket
Review Summary Ab Rocket The gut is notoriously the most difficult part of the body to tone and firm. We see the evidence of this daily: people walking around in relatively trim bodies, but with little paunches popping out above their waistlines. Whether you’re post-pregnancy, post-fraternity, post-surgery, or post-laziness, you’ve probably experienced disdain for the little paunch, and you’ve probably despaired over the pain and strain of crunches, sit-ups, scissors, and the like. Ab Rocket, as seen on TV, is supposedly a “revolutionary” way to work the lower, middle, and upper abs, in addition to the obliques. Supposedly taking just 5 minutes a day, ab workouts on the Ab Rocket are purported to melt inches from the waistline while providing a fun, easy, and comfortable experience. Closer Look Ab Rocket looks like a low-rise beach chair with padded rollers on the back. Users sit on the chair and lean against the resistant back. By using abdominal and core muscles, users push against the spring-loaded resistance in order to flatten out in the chair. The chair back then wants to come back up, and so users must resist the force of the back as they sit up. However, the chair, taking some of the strain out of crunches, sit-ups, scissors, jack knives, etc, supports the return motion. The padded rollers provide comfort and soothing massage during all parts of the motion. Various exercises are possible with Ab Rocket, and it is even advertised as a Pilates-friendly device that assists during the more strenuous Pilates exercises. As users develop strength and ability, they can change out the springs for three different levels of resistance. And of course, the machine is lightweight and easy to store. Website In Focus Tryabrocket.com is an informative site, if a little obnoxious and overblown. Visitors can watch a commercial for Ab Rocket, which makes education all the more mindless. Cost Ab Rocket is available for a trial use for $14.95. After 30 days, three payments of $39.95 are due. An order comes with a low calorie meal plan, instructional DVDs, five-minute workouts, and a dance program. Positives Massages. Comes with low-calorie eating plan and further exercise tips, which will all be crucial if this gimmick is to do anything at all. Negatives ASimilar to a dozen other ab machines on the As-Seen-On-TV market. Expensive. 3 levels of resistance may not be enough for some people. Final Thoughts Ab Rocket isn’t the worst idea on the exercise equipment market. The thing is, sculpting the abs is going to take a whole lot more than five minutes on this little chair. Users will need to be physically active every day, incorporating cardiovascular exercise and strength training into their activities. In addition, they will need to eat sensibly and moderately if they hope to drop pounds and inches to expose sculpted abs. Such a goal is questionable, to say the least, but if you find yourself wanting to look like a model, Ab Rocket may be one semi-effective part in an overall assault on your body. Remember, however, that it may just end up stowed away under the bed. ©2008, sensational.com. |
