"Tab, what bugs the heck out of me is that you encourage people to profit by using other people's artwork. I think Disney *should* have an exclusive right to market their characters, whether it is on a fabric they sold or a picture they put out. I don't think it is reasonable to take someone else's money-maker and shake it into a paying gig for yourself.

That is just *my* opinion :) If I ever designed a character that took off, it would break my heart to think people would cite *your* cases as a justification for ripping off *my* work."

Point 1 - "profit by using other people's artwork" - Again, the mantra of those "gifted" souls who dislike the lack of originality of us common folk. How does someone "profit" from the work of others when they have sold you the work in the first place? They have been compensated for the work they voluntarily sold. You make it sound like their work was taken from them forcibly.

Point 2 - Disney *does* have an exclusive right to market their characters, for the "first sale" of any given copy. Are you saying that once someone purchases a Disney item, they should never have the right to sell it later? Federal law says otherwise. You talk about how you want the law to be, not what is it.

Point 3 - It is not "reasonable" to "take" someone else's "moneymaker", period. However, when they voluntarily sell you a copy of that "moneymaker", it is yours to do with as you wish within the boundaries of the law. That is all we advocate: within the boundaries of the law.

Point 4 - Ah. Now we see your real bias here. You feel we tell people to go around "ripping off" the work of others. Please tell us where on our web site or in any postings where we tell people to not act within the boundaries of the law. Again, you talk about how you want the law to be, not what is it, and for that, you appear to blame us.
