Simpson Has Indiana Ties InsideIndianaBusiness.com Report Indianapolis-based Sommer Barnard today filed a petition in a California court on behalf of Fred Goldman seeking ownership and control over O.J. Simpson's "Right of Publicity." A "Right of Publicity" is the use of a person's name, image or likeness in advertising, merchandise and commercial ventures such as autograph signing. The law firm says Goldman is pursuing alternative means to collect the more than $19 million Simpson was ordered to pay in the wrongful deaths of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson. The idea for the action began with Karl Manders, owner of Indianapolis-based Continental Enterprises, Inc., whose company provides investigative and enforcement services specializing in intellectual property. Jonathan Polak, chair of the Intellectual Property Group at Sommer Barnard, says today's action has never been done before. The court has scheduled a hearing for October 17 on Goldman’s motion.
