The Tabberone™ Archives These articles concern what we consider major trademark and copyright issues. They are usually reproduced with the original source referenced. Bear in mind, these articles are copyrighted and commercial use without permission of the authors may be considered infringement. The intended use here is educational, commentary and non-commercial. The reason they are reproduced in the Tabberone™ Archives, as opposed to just providing a link, is because links disappear and pages are removed. That presents a messy confirmation process that is annoying to the browser (you) but also presents a credibility issue. We do not claim any rights in these pieces. Do not regard the absence of a copyright statement or © to mean the article is not copyrighted. Some sites do not have a copyright statement. When an article or a comment is posted on the internet by the copyright owner, the owner is seeking a world-wide, 24/7 audience; sometimes for a limited amount of time, sometimes indefinitely. In essence, an internet posting intentionally relinquishes one's copyright for exclusivity because the owner has posted it on the internet to been seen by everyone, everywhere. The Tabberone™ Archives non-commercial duplication of the posting is simply a continuance of the original wishes of the copyright owner. updated: 9/5/2006 1:29:41 PM New Court Action Against O.J. Simpson Has Indiana Ties
InsideIndianaBusiness.com Report A "Right of Publicity" is the use of a person's name, image or likeness in advertising, merchandise and commercial ventures such as autograph signing. The law firm says Goldman is pursuing alternative means to collect the more than $19 million Simpson was ordered to pay in the wrongful deaths of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson. The idea for the action began with Karl Manders, owner of Indianapolis-based Continental Enterprises, Inc., whose company provides investigative and enforcement services specializing in intellectual property. Jonathan Polak, chair of the Intellectual Property Group at Sommer Barnard, says today's action has never been done before. The court has scheduled a hearing for October 17 on Goldman’s motion. Manders is the owner of Continental Enterprises, an Indianapolis-based company that designs and implements intellectual property
protection programs for a variety of major multinational companies. “Most of the time is spent finding innovative new ways to
protect a company’s intellectual property in difficult situations,” Manders said. “I was specifically looking at “Right of Publicity”
when the idea occurred to me that it could be used to make criminals pay for their crimes.” Manders worked with his in-house counsel
and Polak to explore the idea further. Manders later contacted Goldman and presented his idea to him. “I spend a great deal of time
helping companies use intellectual property to serve their commercial needs, and I was thrilled to be able to use my expertise to
bring a little bit of justice to the family of Ron Goldman.”
Continental Enterprises is an Indianapolis-based investigative agency that has specialized in intellectual property for almost 20 years.
Continental provides investigative and enforcement services to clients seeking both civil and criminal remedies. Continental serves a
wide array of clients from Fortune 500 companies and major universities to small businesses and individuals. Continental undertakes
