DIRECTED ELECTRONICS, INC.
Directed Electronics, Inc., headquartered in Vista, California, is the world's largest manufacturer of vehicle security systems and remote car starters and is an emerging leader of car audio and rear seat entertainment equipment. Our products are sold throughout North America as well as around the globe. The company strives to offer only the highest quality products in the mobile electronics industry. Directed does this through continuous product innovation and quality process improvement. To ensure that consumers are purchasing only genuine Directed products, and to ensure the proper installation and function of our products, we diligently monitor and control the design, manufacturing, distribution and advertising of our products. Why was my auction ended? Certain mobile electronics systems manufactured and distributed by Directed Electronics, Inc., incorporate technology covered by various intellectual property rights. These products are sold only under license through authorized licensed dealers with the requirement that the product be installed by the dealer into the purchaser's vehicle. A failure to properly install one of these products may impact the proper functioning of the product and may result in other unintended vehicle damage. If product is sold by anyone other than an authorized licensed dealer, the product may be counterfeit, the installation may be substandard, or the product is being sold in violation of Directed's intellectual property rights. Below are explanations of some of the most common, but not all, of the reasons an auction has been ended. Counterfeit Product Directed enjoys a strong reputation for product quality and workmanship. Because of this, a number of counterfeit products have been introduced into the market. Products sold on eBay cannot be guaranteed to be authentic. Many auctions are removed because they may be counterfeit. Copyright Infringement Directed is the owner of certain copyrights to all of the technical data, photos, graphics, software, product literature, catalogues, product specifications, installation guides, user guides, promotional material and other types of information used in association with its products and/or posted on its websites. These items may not be used by anyone without express written permission from Directed. Any copying, reproduction or use of these materials without permission is a violation of federal law. Trademark Infringement Directed is the exclusive owner of numerous valuable trademark rights that are used in association with a wide variety of products that Directed sells throughout the world. Directed has made a significant investment developing the association of these marks with our products. Consumers recognize the value and quality of our products based on the mark associated with the product. Because product sold on eBay is not sold by an authorized licensed dealer, it is not certain that those products are not counterfeit. Any unlicensed use of any of these marks is a violation of our exclusive rights and may cause confusion among consumers as to the source of the goods and may result in liability for infringement. Patent Infringement Directed is the owner of a large number of patents for technology that is incorporated into its products. These products are only sold through licensed dealers. The sale of our products by anyone other than authorized licensed dealers, in strict compliance with the terms of their license, constitutes patent infringement and may subject the infringer to substantial liability. False Warranty Offer The sale of any product sold by anyone other than an authorized licensed dealer voids the manufacturer's warranty. eBay sellers cannot make invalid claims concerning any Directed product warranty. Where Can I Get More Information? We hope we have answered any questions you have about why your auction was ended. Your auction was most likely ended because of violation of any one of the above explanations. Directed cannot provide legal advice to you regarding your present or future auctions. If you still have a concern about an auction that has been pulled, please refer to eBay's intellectual property guidelines at: http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/png-items.html |
