Etsy Misinformation Mavens
Hall Of Shame Members
Who Hate Tabberone
This Page Added November 31, 2009

Last Updated February 25, 2010

These Misinformation Mavens have a particular dislike of Tabberone because what she says usually contradicts the mutterings of the Misinformation Mavens. They do not like that. They prefer to be worshipped, not defiled. Most are offended by the "amateurs" who want to "profit" off the work of others by using licensed fabrics, etc. What they fail to recognize, or care to acknowledge, is that no one is being cheated of revenue. Companies like Disney sell fabrics because it generates revenue for Disney. No other reason. Long before that piece of fabric was sold at retail, Disney received payments for it being manufactured. The fabric manufacturer gets paid when the store purchases it and the store gets paid when the fabric is sold to the crafter. So, we ask, who in this chain was cheated? No one. Yet, these Misinformation Maven screech otherwise. But, also read the Esty page to see why these Misinformation Mavens are wrong. Unlike them, we cite federal law and federal and state court cases to back our statements.

Most of these divas are self-anointed "artists and creative minds" who are offended by us lesser mortals. This list is of the "divas" who dislike or hate Tabberone, but trust us, it is not complete. When they are challenged to cite references or to point out where the Tabberone site is misleading or wrong, these divas become remarkably silent. Like roaches when the lights are turned on, they scurry for cover and await for darkness. Their arguments are lame and lack legal support but they do not care for they are Divas.

These statements are not edited not are they taken out of context. Alphabetically by seller ID:

Do NOT contact Tabberone. She's not a lawyer and, frankly, I find most of the advice she gives to be mischaracterizations, of limited applicability and following generalized advice could come back to hurt you. See a lawyer. (6389370 page 2)

andymathis
Get it in writing that Tabberone is going to pay your legal fees if you are using her website for legal advice.
Some fabrics are fine to use. Others not.
You can always sell the fabric as is. That isn't a derivative work. (6007909 page 3)

You really should take what you read on Tabberone's site with a grain a salt. and consider the source. (5687247 page 3)

[She sued... and she won!]
"not really, she was sued and it was settled, and we have no idea what was in the settlement. and who wants to go to court for a couple of products?" (6279457)

"i wouldn't trust info garnered from that site." (6279457)

artisanwoodcrafting
"this is not a lawyers info- nor is it from the USPTO. this is from a person who repeatedly tries to get around the issues of using anothers works to gain a profit."
"you know she'll pop in when google alerts pick up her link that was posted". (6293262)
"you can listen to tabberone, if you want to spend time in court like she did. and most times there was a settlement, she didnt actually win". (644608)
"tabberone isnt a lawyer, so i wouldnt bank on her words" (6433602 page 2)

britishcreamtea
"I would be careful of the tabberone site. It comes up in every copyright thread and had massive question marks over it and has been disputed many many times. I would talk to either an IP lawyer or the company holding the copyright for the character or logo in question." (6356129 page 2)

BusyTimmy
"This woman is not a copyright lawyer, but simply a layperson who has posted what her interpretation of the law is. She is a very controversial and many people hotly debate her opinion. Please do not make any decisions regarding the legality of YOUR business based on what she has written on her internet website- contact a lawyer specializing in copyrights and business law." (6100254)

ChristinaPerdue
"Oh, just noticed the 'tabberone' connection. I think I'll pass on taking legal and ethical advice from the site." (6100254)
"Tabberone is not a lawyer nor should anyone get their legal advice from them." (6226434 page 1)
"Tabberone is not a lawyer and her winning a case doesn't mean you will not be sued, will not pay court costs, or will win." (6255835 page 5)
"Please do not take legal advice from tabberone unless she agrees to pay your legal fees if Disney sues you." (6286881 page 2)
"I don't have to cite anything. I'm not a lawyer and neither are you so stop handing out legal advice." (6286881 page 2)
"Oh and just because the companies backed down doesn't mean what you did was legal. It just means they decided not to go to court." (6286881 page 3)
"Oh for Christ's sake. Do not read tabberon's site for legal advice. She is not a lawyer." (6389370 page 2)
"Tabberone is not a lawyer and following her advice would be stupid." (6449313 page 3)

"(Tabberone gives bad advice that will probably bite people some day; head's up - - if that was your fabric with your creations, would you think anyone c ould make anything to sell from it? How about a dildo cozy? Still okay?." (6357729)

FabricDestashSale
"The fact that you disagree with me so vehemently makes me feel more confident in my own ethical position" (6286881) "(And soon we'll probably hear from tabberone telling everyone to go ahead and use it and fight for the right to profit from the other company's significant investment.)." (6293262)

grandmasbest
"Oh god Tabberone, GO AWAY!." (6286881)

hopskipshop
"There is a site that provides some mostly false documentation that disputes this with regards to companies that have settled (terms undisclosed) but there is just as much documentation and many instances of copyright and trademark owners successfully suing violators." (6255835)

"God don't say it's name, it is like Beetlejuice, it will appear in the thread and begin giving legal advice on the internet again.." (6380002 page 16)

lillipopsdesigns
"Ugh. The "T" word." (6357729)

"LOL Tissage! I thought I was the only one who thought that!" (6448731 page 2)

meringueshop
"That Tabberone link pops up in every thread on this topic. If you believe everything in that link, I've got some lovely swamp land to sell you....." (6198327 page 2)

miascloset
"I don't have anything to say that's productive except....the T word's been mentioned!." (6357729)

"you guys said the T word again..." (6389370 page 4)

"you are inviting the T word now." (6380002 page 16)

"Just a thought....just because you can settle a court case doesn't make what you do ethical." (6286881 page 6) [no response]

OddsWithoutEnd
"And look at the website that information comes from. I'm not surprised in the least. Thieves trying to defend themselves can be very strategic on what information they provide as a means to justify what they do, especially when simultaneously encouraging others to join them." (5097642)

quirkybags
"Tabberone has spent $$$$ fighting companies and as artisan mentioned, has typically received a settlement, not an actual "win" that would set a precedent of any type." (6446081 pg 24)

sunflowerexpress
"The ONE site you have used to justify your actions is really just a bunch of cobbled together info that enables people to abuse other's copyrights." (6357729)
"Do you smell something??? maybe its the big giant pile of Doo someone left on the previous page." (6357729)
"But don't come on a forum and profligate myths, because someone will see this and think its ok". (6357729)

thebannerqueen
"From what I understand Tabberone is not a reliable site. ." (6294499 page 1)

"Honestly, it's exactly this attitude that you bring to the forums, this attack mode that you are constantly in that makes me not trust anything you say. You constantly attack rather than discuss. If you would calm down once in a while and actually have a conversation with people rather than being on the defensive right off the crack, I might actually read what you say. Instead, because of the overly aggressive attidude you have, I don't bother." (6294499 page 2)

Tissage
"Oh lord, not Tabberone. She always makes me want a Toblerone bar." (6448731 page 2)

weesandy
"Oh please don't trust your good name, not to mention your money, to what Tabberone says! Her perspective is limited and biased, and she obviously hasn't properly understood what happened." (6279457)
