eBay To Roll Out New Auction Format! A Tabberone Exclusive! |
December 18, 2009 - San Jose, Calif - Investigative Reporter Tabberone has uncovered inside information that eBay
is planning to unveil a new auction format the First of April, 2011. The format is being extensively tested on eBay Bosnia
(http://cgi.ebay.bn.com) with better than expected results.
Inspired by the already successful eBay marketing plan, Shop Victoriously, the new format involves the buyer determining who sell what and for how much. "It's a revolutionary concept in today's on-line auction forums," said Demetri Yullbesorry, director of development for eBay Bosnia. "It's a departure from the conventional thinking that the seller forms the auction and the buyer is secondary. We have moved the buyer to primary importance, here." Simply explained, under the new format an eBay buyer would randomly select a seller and tell that seller what item is being sold, for how much, and the terms of the sale. The buyer would then PayPal the payment to the seller who would have 24 hours in which to acquire the product and ship it to the buyer. Failure to ship the correct item within the allotted time frame could result in a nasty email from eBay, the seller's account being frozen by PayPal, and a visit from the local militia. There are a few things to be worked out before this system will be introduced in the United States, eBay's largest market. "The late night home militia visit is a very effective marketing tool," stated Alexander Droppov. "It gets the seller's attention real quick that we are very serious about this new approach. It's time the buyers had a real say in the auctions and we're going to give it to them." Although the new format has experienced few problems in eBay Bosnia, there are some expected difficulties as eBay tries to introduce it in the United States. John Donahoe dismissed those difficulties. "We'll precede the new format with email polls and questionnaires, along with on-line surveys, that will show that the American buying public is really ready for this and eager to participate." |
